Installations from a USB flash drive has become one of the easiest ways to update our computer with a new Operating system. A USB installation is a Quick, extremely portable and easy method to install the Operating system. These days very few people burn ISO images on disks and use them as bootable media. The USB drives have replaced them as they are faster and a more convenient method to install an Operating system on our systems.

Things to do before starting:
Before starting, make sure you have following things with your.
1 » Minimum 4 GB USB Flash Drive.
1 » Windows Disc Image - ISO file. (download it from Internet or buy window DVD)
Insert USB flash drive to computer and follow the given steps.

Open command prompt:
We can open command prompt or CMD using two ways:
1 » Click the window icon or press window key. search for cmd or command prompt and run it as Administration.
2 » Press Window key + R , A dialog box will open, type cmd in text area to open the command prompt. type cmd and press enter.

Open diskpart:
In Open console window, type the command Diskpart to open the disk management. if any popup appears then, just press "Yes" and it will open up a new window in our command prompt.

Show the list of Disk Present in System:
In Diskpart, type the command list disk and press enter. It will show All active disks on our system. In my System i have two disks.
1 » Disk 0 - It's my hard drive.
2 » Disk 1 - It's my 32 GB USB Flash Drive and i am going to make it bootable.

Select and Clean the Disk:
Before proceeding, we need to clean the USB flash drive. Make sure you copy the Important data from usb flash drive to system. After copying, follow these steps.
1 » Type command select disk 1 In command prompt and press enter. We will get the message "Disk 1 is now selected disk". It's mean, any further operation that we are going to do will effect our Disk 1 (USB drive) directly.
» Type clean and hit enter to clean the USB flash drive. This command will remove all of the data present in the USB flash drive and we will get the message "DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk".

Create Partition Primary:
Type the following command to create the primary partition.
create partition primary
Above command will create primary partition in the selected disk (USB flash drive)

Format Partition as NTFS:
We need to Format our Newly created partition as NTFS because window can only be installed on an NTFS partition. NTFS is the newest file system stand for "New Technology File System" created by Microsoft. To Format the partition as NTFS follow the given steps.
1 » Type select partition 1 in command prompt and press enter. This command will select the primary partition for next step.
2 » Type active and press enter. This command will activate the current partition.
3 » Type the following command in command prompt and press enter.
format fs=ntfs quick
The above command will format the selected partition as NTFS file system.

Coping ISO Image file To USB:
Using above steps, our USB flash drive is ready to become bootable. Close the Diskpart window and copy the downloaded ISO image files to USB flash drive manually and this will make our USB Drive bootable.
